Hello South Dakota science teachers and friends of science! We are finishing up another school year with its demands, joys, and frustrations. So much we wanted to finish at the end of this semester and so little time! Oh well; we can regroup over the summer and plan for a new year. On behalf of the South Dakota Science Teachers Association, I would like to congratulate with pride and honor our new Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching awardee for 2005. President Bush will honor science teacher Mark Farrand from Rapid City Central High School also SDSTA President (2004-2006) to receive the highest honor for teaching in these fields. Way to go Mark! You are a deserving teacher and we are proud that you are one of ours! As summer approaches and we clean our classrooms, here is my message to you from the words of a child in Minnesota: Peace begins in each person's HEART and then is passed on to the people they LOVE most.
